The Bored’s Prayer

572-bored-kid

Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me. (Psalm 51:12)

.   .   .

Why bother,

You Old Fart unshaven?

Hell if we see Thy game.

Thy voice is dumb.

Our hearts are numb.

What worth is such fizzled leaven?

Give us cliché or play instead—

Or give your regrets

And free us from our fetters.

Creed us not into frustration,

But deliver us some diversion.

For Thine is the boredom

And the sour

And the same old story

(whatever, whatever)

Again.
